Raptors Trade Rudy Gay to Kings
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Toronto Raptor have traded Rudy Gay, Quincy Acy, and Aaron Gray to the Sacramento Kings for John Salmons, Greivis Vasquez, Patrick Patterson, and Chuck Hayes.
GM of the Toronto Raptors, Masai Ujiri, has been public about his desire to trade away some of the Raptors pieces. Unfortunately, due to Gay’s woeful shooting percentage this year and inability to lead the Raptors, he was the obvious target. Gay is making $17 million this year and is scheduled to make another $19.3 million next year with his player option, which he will undoubtedly take.
However, Gay will be a good fit for the Kings since they were masquerading Derrick Williams as a small forward. Now they can slide Gay right into the starting three spot and Isaiah Thomas and DeMarcus Cousin will get him much easier looks than he was getting in Toronto.
