As we suspected yesterday, Rashard Lewis has told the Orlando Magic he plans to accept their Free Agent offer when the signing period begins. The deal is said be around 5 years for $80 million. Too much? At about $16 a year that seems high, but would you rather have Rashard Lewis or Vince Carter? I'll take Lewis in a millisecond.
When you consider this instantly makes the Magic a contender in the East, it's far from overpaying. I know Stephon Marbury would like to believe the Knicks are to be feared, but the reality is that the Magic now have a freaky inside-out combo. Are Dwight Howard and Lewis now the best tandem in the East?
