Is Mendenhall a Go for Sunday Night?
Today, Mendenhall went through his second straight full day of practice, and he didn’t even wear a knee brace.
You may remember that in the Steelers’ last game of their 2011 season, first round against Denver, Mendenhall tore a ligament in his knee and things certainly didn’t look good for him. But according to his Pittsburgh teammates, the recovery has gone quite well. Defensive End Brett Keisel basically assured that Mendenhall was back in form, saying he looked “incredible” during yesterday’s practice.
If you can afford the roster spots, I would recommend holding onto both Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer until we actually see Mendenhall start taking 20 carries a game. But if Mendenhall was passed over in your draft, now’s the perfect opportunity to scoop him up. It’s hard to find a steady running back these days, but Mendenhall has proven he can be that man in the past. Whether or not he’s got it in him this year is still up for major question, but at only 25 years old, Mendenhall may still have plenty in the tank.
