Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric is being linked with a shocking move to La Liga champions Real Madrid. According to a report from the Daily Mail, Luka Modric could accept Jose Mourinho’s offer to join Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old Croatian just got free from international duty at the 2012 European Championships. Interestingly, Luka Modric’s last game at Euro 2012 was against the 2010 World Cup winners, Spain.

Luka Modric has grabbed a lot of attention from top notch European clubs after posting an impressive season with Tottenham Hotspur. A number of clubs are willing to pay big bucks for the central midfielder. The list includes teams like Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has already made a £30 million bid on Luka Modric. Manchester United has rivaled this bid with a £35 million transfer offer. Barcelona is eyeing the whole matter with great interest. A bid from the Catalan giants could arrive in the next few days.

Luka Modric has repeatedly expressed his desire to join Chelsea or Manchester United. Although, Tottenham Hotspurs chairman Daniel Levy has refused to authorize the sale of Luka Modric he actually will not be able to stop Luka Modric from leaving the club.

Meanwhile, the coach of Croatia national team Slaven Bilic gave some advice to Luka Modric.

“I have spoken with Luka and I will respect whatever he decides to do. If he decides to leave then Luka should do it for the right reasons,” Slaven Bilic said in an interview to The Sun.

Joining Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United would probably be the best move for Luka Modric. Not only would Luka Modric have the opportunity to play under the legendary Scotsman but he would be getting guaranteed first team appearances with one of the biggest clubs in the world.

However, it appears as if the Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has done a number on Luka Modric. According to Luka Modric’s compatriot Mate Bilic, who plays for Sporting Gijon, the Spurs midfielder wants to join Real Madrid.

“I'm very good friends with Modric,” Mate Bilic said in an interview to the Daily Mail. “He wants to play in the Spanish league. He loves the Premier League but he wants to play in Spain. He's very close to agreeing a move.”

The former Real Madrid and Croatia striker Davor Suker has also advised Luka Modric to join Real Madrid.

“Luka Modric is a player who could play for Real Madrid. He needs to be playing for a team that will win trophies. He'd be perfect for them,” Davor Suker said.
