Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is wary of interest from Premier League giants for his coveted Croatian midfielder Luka Modric. Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old midfielder just six months after he moved from the Premier League to La Liga.

It appears as if Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United will enter the football market with Luka Modric as their top transfer target during the summers if Real Madrid fail to win any silverware this season.

Luka Modric hasn’t had the best of starts at Real Madrid after his £33 million move from Tottenham Hotspur during the 2012 summer transfer window. As a matter of fact, the Croatia international has been described as the worst La Liga signing of 2012.

Just last week Luka Modric accepted he was having trouble adapting to life at Real Madrid. The Croatian midfielder said that the switch from Premier League to La Liga had been “challenging”.

Sources back home suggest Luka Modric is considering a swift return to one of the big clubs in the Premier League. Chelsea and Manchester City made late attempts to acquire the services of Luka Modric in 2011. Since then Manchester United led the race to sign in Luka Modric.

Last summer Real Madrid swooped in to steal Luka Modric from right under the nose of Manchester United. The Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson was a huge fan of Luka Modric, but he wasn’t ready to shell £30 million for the midfielder.

Luka Modric has made only eight starts this season and scored a lone goal. With Chelsea in dire need of replacing Frank Lampard they are expected launch a huge campaign for the midfielder this year. Club insiders have revealed that Chelsea are already evaluating financial aspects of a deal with Luka Modric.

If Luka Modric appears in the transfer market than Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini and Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will surely reignite interest in the center midfielder.

Reports from Croatia claim Luka Modric is weighing his options. This means Luka Modric is interested in a move away. With Real Madrid ready to sign in Gareth Bale, Jose Mourinho might be forced to lose Luka Modric for extra funds to score a new Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.

It appears as if Luka Modric will have six months to make an impact at Santiago Bernabeu to commit to the Real Madrid cause.
