It is believed Real Madrid are making a shocking attempt to steal one of Manchester United’s best strikers this summer. The Spanish football giants are set to launch a sensational bid for the Mexican striker Javier Hernandez.

This news has been confirmed by the Mirror, who also suggested that the 24-year-old forward feels he hasn’t played in enough big games this season in spite of producing promising performances on a regular basis.

Javier Hernandez has found few starting opportunities over the last two seasons, and especially after the arrival of Robin van Persie. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has preferred to use Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Robin van Persie in his attack, instead of the young Mexican speedster.

In spite of scoring 15 goals in only 26 appearances for Manchester United this season, Sir Alex Ferguson refuses to add Hernandez to his first-team. Real Madrid are hoping to take advantage of Hernandez’s frustration at Old Trafford by offering him a chance to start over fresh.

Earlier this season, the out of favor striker revealed he had asked Manchester United to use him more frequently or cut him loose. However, it appears as if Hernandez is merely a surplus at Old Trafford.

England international Danny Welbeck’s rise to form has cut off Hernandez’s chances to appear in Manchester United’s first-team. Ferguson has been quite impressed with the versatility Welbeck adds to his team, which is why the youngster regularly appears Manchester United’s first-team.

With only two goals in 30 appearances for Manchester United, clearly it’s not Welbeck’s goalscoring form that has made him the apple of Ferguson’s eyes. Yet, Ferguson hails the youngster for showing form beyond his years.

Welbeck’s ability to shift to the wing and play off-the-striker is what has impressed Ferguson. Welbeck is the kind of forward who assists the striker and performs a crucial role in playmaking.

On the other hand, Javier Hernandez is known for his pace, impressive finishing ability and beating the off-side trap. Ferguson believes he can find these qualities in Welbeck, Rooney and van Persie, which means Hernandez is effectively a surplus at Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are in search of an extra striker in their squad. Bernabeu boss Jose Mourinho was after Javier Hernandez during the winter transfer window as well, but Manchester United weren’t interested in losing him. With the summer transfer window creeping forward, Manchester United’s decision will probably change.
