Reasons behind Jose Mourinho’s failure to keep Real Madrid on top
Real Madrid is back to recording victories, still they are far from being exonerated for their dismissive start to the season. The Bernabeu boss Jose Mourinho understands that in spite of Real Madrid’s recent victories his tactics aren’t actually working.
Following a year of success and victory, Real Madrid was supposed to defend their honor against arch rivals Barcelona. Instead, Real Madrid are eight points behind in La Liga. So, where has Jose Mourinho gone wrong?
5 – Unchanged Formation
Real Madrid continues to play on with the 4-2-3-1 formation even though more than half of the football world has started to adopt it. For now this formation remains as the de facto best and perhaps the most efficient formation, but it has started to kill the creativity in Real Madrid.
Real Madrid players are more dependent on tactics than chemistry or skill, which is the exact opposite of what Jose Mourinho had to counter when he first came to Real Madrid.
4 – Lack of Passion
It appears as if Real Madrid has lost the fire they used to illuminate their path to success last season. The passion and fighting spirit Real Madrid showed against other teams last season is nowhere to be found.
Locker room bust ups and unsatisfied players are causing further problems at the club. Unfortunately, Jose Mourinho has been directly linked with these unlikely quandaries.
3 – A Midfield Crisis
Jose Mourinho finally fixed Real Madrid’s midfield problem since the departure of club legend Zinedine Zidane. Last season, Xabi Alonso and Sami Khedira teamed up in the centre of the park to deliver creative through balls, Hollywood passes and block the midfield against offense.
The duo has managed to clock little time together this season and when they have they seemed unconnected. Luka Modric has been a great addition to Real Madrid’s squad, but Jose Mourinho needs to fix his original partnership if wants to fix his tactics.
2 – Leadership
It finally looks as if Real Madrid needs a new leader. Real Madrid needs a man who is there to back up his players and leads by example. Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard is the perfect example of a charismatic leader, but since it’s the Reds who have them Jose Mourinho needs to fix problem with what he has in hand.
1 – Cristiano Ronaldo needs to be unleashed
The Portuguese star is unhappy with his stay at Real Madrid. Moreover, Cristiano Ronaldo is unsatisfied with Real Madrid’s efforts at resolving his concerns.
Although, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to record exceptional form for Real Madrid the passion he used to show for Los Blancos has disappeared. Moreover, La Liga has improved defensively.
Therefore, Jose Mourinho needs to take strong initiatives in correcting Cristiano Ronaldo’s relationship with the club and introduce some new tactics to help Cristiano Ronaldo get back to his old goal-scoring form.
