Mandatory Credit: Kim Klement-US PRESSWIREAccording to the Boston Herald, the blockbuster trade that would send Adrian Gonzalez and others to the Dodgers is complete.

From the Herald:
"Early this morning, the Red Sox and Dodgers concluded a blockbuster deal in which the Red Sox shipped four players – Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto – in exchange for a massive relief in salary as well as four minor-leaguers and first baseman James Loney, according to a Red Sox source."

The minor leaguers will reportedly be Allen Webster, Rubby de la Rosa, Jerry Sands and Ivan de Jesus.

The Red Sox will send $12M to the Dodgers in the deal, but will still save over $275M total, between salary and luxury tax money.

This is a huge move for the Red Sox, because it allows them to ditch a ton of salary and rebuild for the future.

The Sox just traded their 3 highest paid players, and GM Ben Cherington now has a chance to make his mark on the franchise. We'll see how successful he is.

I just cant get over a team shedding a quarter of a billion dollars off their payroll with one deal.  If I were a Sox fan, I'd be happy with this move.  If I'm a Dodger fan, I'm happy that the new owners have gone out and made deals but there would still be a part of me hoping and praying that this deal isn't a precursor to Frank McCourt part deux
