Well that was fun while it lasted. Congratulations to your 2007 World Champion Boston Red Sox. Nice of them to finish this off so Boston fans can gear up for the Eagles visit to Blacksburg tomorrow night.
Colorado not only played like a team that had a record 8 days off in between league championship and World Series, but one that knew it was going to affect them. Whether or not the Rockies lineup could have been able to hit Josh Beckett regardless of days off is a good debate, but the obvious mismatch was with the opposite units. It's been a while since Jeff Francis last pitched, and perhaps even more important, a lengthy gap for the bullpen that had been sharp all postseason. The only evidence needed: Julio Lugo went 3-for-f*ing-4.
Joe Buck even took care of his Jub-Jub bet with Conan O'Brien swiftly in the bottom of the third with a brilliant segway to the field: “Our own little Jub-Jub, Chris Myers.”
I hate to ruin the World Series fun, but this party is over. It's just a formality now, with the only interest being whether it's done in 4 or 5 games.
