Pedro Martinez is on the DL for the next 6 weeks and essentially on his way out the door, but I believe we've found the second coming. Similarly short statured (for a dominant pitcher) Reds rookie Johnny Cueto made his debut this afternoon and his stuff was as filthy as we were led to believe.
Hows this: 7 IP, 10 K, 0 BB and gave up just one hit, a home run to Justin Upton. Cueto pitched five perfect frames to start his career. That'll work. The outmatched Diamondbacks were visibly impressed.
As I mentioned in the NL Central Predictions, Cueto was the predominant reason I was high on the Reds being competitive in the division. That said, there's still one very big concern with the rookie fireballer. Dusty Baker is his manager.
Don't ruin this one, Dusty. Please.
Reds 3, Diamondbacks 2
