Redskins, Daniel Snyder Offer Two 1st Round Picks for Chad Johnson, Bengals One Up Insanity by Saying No
It's always good fun to see two of the most poorly run franchises attempt to make deals with one another. Even when Dumb offers the best possible deal, Dumber isn't smart enough to take it.

"According to sources" the genius that is Daniel Snyder has offered the Cincinnati Bengals their 21st overall, 1st round pick, in addition to a '09 draft pick that could become another first rounder with performance incentives, in exchange for Chad Johnson and all his baggage.

That's insane. We don't need to go into great detail about Ocho Cinco's talents, but as he's proven, he's a bigger distraction than he is a playmaker. That's not what you want to dump on the young and promising Jason Campbell.

Typical Daniel Snyder, who finally recognizes a marquee player that would be great for his movies, and offers up everything.

Fortunately, for Snyder AND Redskins fans, the Bengals have said no. Typical Bungals, can't even recognize a steal when it's presented to them.

This is even more insane.

Not only does Cincinnati and Marvin Lewis - who I still believe is a good coach - get rid of the negative influence of Johnson, they get to immediately draft one of the best receivers in the draft at No. 21, after taking their linebacker or defensive tackle at No. 9. There couldn't be a better scenario.

Wait, yes there can. They also would likely get another first round pick in 2009. Worst case scenario, it's a 3rd rounder. Even if the Bengals would have to accept an $8-million salary cap hit over the next two years, they're silly for not jumping at the chance to get Chad Johnson off their hands.

Dumb and Dumber IV: Daniel Snyder and the Bengals attempt to trade.

I've been against the Bengals trading away Johnson, but thats a pretty tempting offer.  Two 1st round picks would probably worth it.  Anything less and I'd keep Ocho Cinco.

Ocho Cinco is a top flight WR, but he is not worth two 1st round picks.

I was all for the Bengals keeping him there so give chad the big FU!

But then Snyder is offering 2 #1's for a cry baby WR. Man I would lave to see the train wreck that will be the Skins when CJ cant get the rock and become more of a distraction. Cuz I dont think that awesome combo of Campbell to CJ will get the skins to the playoffs. BTW when was the last time Campbell even led a team to the playoffs? Oh thats right never! If it wasnt for the career back up Todd Collins the Skins would not have been able to lose in the wold card round!

I respect your opinion, but I disagree. Jason has more up side than Collins, young+ more arthritic and stronger arm. he just need to work on his accuracy, The advantage Collin had last year was he under the same offense for most of his career so when Collins step in the offense moved more smoother. But this year a whole new offense will be put in so in that case who would you go with a career back up or a young gun.

ESPN.com's Chris Mortensen is reporting that the Cincinnati Bengals have rejected the Washington Redskins' offer of two draft picks for Chad Johnson.
The Redskins offered its first-round pick, No. 21 overall, and a conditional third-rounder in 2009 that could escalate to a first rounder if Johnson and the Redskins hit certain performance levels, the sources said.

The report also says that Cincinnati has also turned down trade offers from the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles ... and that this wasn't the first trade offer from the Skins.

The Bengals have long made their stand on the fact that Ocho Cinco isn't on the trading block. Everyone else is making the stand that they are willing to take a problem off their hands.

Cincy's wall comes from the fact that a deal means they take an $8M cap hit (which could be spread out over the next two years). They've also been telling suitors that Chad wants a new, more lucrative deal done wherever he goes ... hopefully to scare everyone off.

And that's how you do business in Cincinnati: drive down the value for your player that doesn't want to be around.

I agree this trade offer is great for the Bengals but perhaps I can attempt to explain what they are doing here... As others have mentioned the Bengals have to pick up 8 Mill of Johnson's contract if they trade him now. That's a good chunk of change... BUT... if the Bengals trade Johnson after the June deadline they will no longer have to pick up that salary... granted they can't benefit for this draft but they can for future drafts and the thought in Cincinnati is that this years draft does not offer the kind of talent the Bengals want in return. So I am not saying that is a good explanation but it is at least some reasoning.

Everyone has to deal with work unhappiness so I can understand Chad Johnson's stance, however I think the Bengals need to stand their ground. The Redskins have no QB (or at least he isn't good now) so I don't think it would be a good move for them.

Carson Palmer is a top 5 QB in the NFL right now. QB is the LEAST of their worries right now.

BQ 2 first rd. picks?  I don't think so.  One this year and Cleveland has 2 "possibly" decent QBs.  They are considering Quinn their first rd. pick this year.  I don't see a problem with that.  The Bengals have no clue what to do in their front office.  Sorry but Lewis should be fired for having no discipline/backbone.  Defensive genius?  Hes a joke.  No wonder Chad wants out.  Brown and the rest of the Front Office are running that team into the nearby river.  CJ won't be throwin anyone a Life Preserver when they drown.

In fact, one might reasonably infer from the comments of Marvin Lewis and Mike Brown that the club is willing to subjugate its own generalized interest to its desire to stick it to Ocho Cinco; the impulse is understandable but its indulgence is, as always, unwise.

Thats correct it was a 1st and a conditional 3rd which could be upgraded to a first based on performace. Seeing that Skins have no real good WR's and Chad is a good WR. I would go ahead and chalk that up to being a pair of #1's. But it doesnt matter anymore. The Bengals are gonna stand pat. Good for them. Chad went from being a good person and adored in Cincy to another ingrate.
