Sep 26, 2013; St. Louis, MO, USA; NFL referee Jeff Triplette signals St. Louis Rams first down during the second half of the game against the San Francisco 49ers at the Edward Jones Dome. Mandatory Credit: Scott Rovak-USA TODAY SportsThis is the NFL, ladies and gentlemen.  You cannot have these types of mistakes.  If the chains are moved, Triplette needs to go ahead with the mistake, rather than taking a first down away from the Redskins.  At the very least, stop the game, and fix the mis-communication.  This is the NFL.  Get it right.

But, according to Ian Rappaport of the NFL Network, these guys aren't going to be suspended.  It's not unprecedented for referees and crew members to be suspended over calls on the field.  If EVER a ref deserved to be suspended, it's Jeff Triplette.  If not for the call, for the call, and his explanation of why they wouldn't stop the game.

Jeff was asked that very question, and his answer was, stopping the game would have given an unfair advantage to the Redskins.  Seriously?!  It would be an unfair advantage for them to, I don't know, know WHAT DOWN IT IS?  THAT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK?  Triplette didn't want to admit that as the referee, it all comes back on him, and he screwed up.  There is your real answer.

That is why this crew should be suspended.  Because they refused to do what was right.  It's a joke if they don't receive serious discipline.
