Well we could have seen this coming: Just two years after winning the Superbowl with the New Orleans Saints, running back Reggie Bush tore up his new team, the Miami Dolphins. After blowing a late lead to lose 18-15 to the Broncos on Sunday, Bush question the drive and talent of the people around him.
“We were up 15 points with what, five minutes left to go? And we couldn’t win it? It’s disgusting,” Bush said to reporters. “It’s just embarrassing, I don’t know any other way to explain it. Had no business losing that game.”
The Dolphins have now fallen to 0-6, and have proved to be among the worst teams in the league. While Miami fans have plenty of reasons to be frustrated with their team, Reggie Bush has been one of them. Following years of collegiate super-stardom at USC, and a relatively successful role as a change of pace receiving back with the Saints, Bush was brought in with high expectations to finally become a successful featured back, but that move has yet to pan out. Averaging just 38.7 yards rushing and 16.2 yards receiving per game, and with only 1 touchdown on the year, he has fallen behind rookie Daniel Thomas in the depth chart.
Reggie Bush’s final comments tell the whole story; “This team stinks,” he declared. We all knew that already. Maybe Reggie should focus on improving his game, and being the reliable contributor that Miami hoped for when they signed him, rather than throw his team under the bus.
