The world as we know it is coming to an end. The NBA is cracking down on player's slapping each other's butts. After a brief tussle with Kyle Korver, Reggie Evans gave him a slap on the butt, likely to commend him on his hustle, and wish him luck for the rest of the game*. Evans received a technical foul for the gentlemanly maneuver, making the NBA officially the No Buttslapping Association.
It's a good thing Brett Favre doesn't play basketball. If he did, he'd be the league's biggest bad boy. He's notorious for generously giving out a good slap on the butt now and then. Teammates, opponents, strangers, it doesn't matter. Could this really be an offense worthy of a technical foul?Everyone knows, for example, that Brett Favre is just out there gunslinging and having fun, and he's like a kid out there. Perhaps Reggie Evans was just trying to infuse the NBA with some of that great attitude. He obviously wasn't trying to hurt Korver. At least no more than his mother did, when she caught little Kyle with his hand in the cookie jar when he was a little kid.
A big Stephen Colbert-style Wag of the Finger to the NBA and their referees on this one. Let them play. It's a bit crazy that Kevin Garnett can do this, but a little pat on the bum deserves a technical.
*ok, probably not.
