Report: Lebron James is MVP
According to a source from the Associated Press, Lebron James will be announced as the 2011-2012 MVP this coming Saturday.
Lebron put up Oscar Robertson like numbers this year with 27.1 ppg, 6.2 apg, 7.9 rpg, 1.9 spg, and .08 bpg. However, the most impressive statistic may be the fact that he did all this with a .531 FG%.
There are only seven other players in NBA history that have won the award three different times – Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Moses Malone.
And in the middle of his prime, there’s no reason why Lebron can’t break Kareem’s record of six MVP’s.
Celtic’s coach Doc Rivers has said, "LeBron, to me, is the favorite every year. The years he doesn't win it, it'll usually be because people are just tired of voting for him. Statistically, if you go all-around game, I don't know how you don't vote for him every year."
Despite the individual accolades, however, Lebron has yet to win a NBA title. Ask Lebron and he’d probably trade all three MVP’s for three Larry O’Brien’s; because Lebron knows as well as anyone else, that what makes you the greatest of all time is not just the trophies, but the rings.
