The Dallas Morning News reports that Derek Fisher will be going to the Dallas Mavericks and may become the possible starter. Coach Rick Carlisle said that Fisher will “probably be the eventual starter at point guard.” He also went on to say that Darren Collison would more than likely move to the bench. “I think that’s a great role for him right now. I really like Darren Collison as a player, and I like him even better as a person. But putting him in a position to be the starter on this team right now isn’t fair to him.”
The humble Collison even said, “I think his leadership will help. He’s been around the NBA for a very, very long time. He’s going to help me grow into the player I want to be.”
Last year, Fisher averaged 4.9 points, 1.4 assists, on 34.3% shooting for OKC.
