According to Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com, LaMarcus Aldridge reached out to the Portland Trailblazers about a trade. Aldridge has another two years left on his deal for a total of $30.4 million.
Haynes said, “According to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the situation, the meeting was described as being productive with both sides focused on doing what’s best for both parties….Prospective teams holding the rights to Noah, Love, Griffin, Horford, and Davis, as of now, have declined to involve their franchise players in any potential deals for Aldridge, a league source told CSNNW.com.”
In all likelihood, Aldridge will command another max contract after his current contract is up, since he is still only twenty-seven years old. However, Aldridge realizes that his current team is still in building mode. They have a nice nucleus with Damian Lillard and Nicolas Batum, but they are still far from being a championship caliber team. Portland did have a nice off-season by signing Thomas Robinson, Robin Lopez, Dorell Wright, and drafting CJ McCollum, however, they are still a team that is young and clearly building. Ask LaMarcus Aldridge.
