Report: Phoenix Suns Likely to Release Michael Beasley
Michael Beasley may now have worn out his third welcome with a team in the NBA. After being drafted by the Miami Heat with the number 2 pick, there was high hopes for Beasley being a force in the NBA. However, the Heat traded Beasley away after a few short years to the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Timberwolves shortly thereafter shipped him off to the Phoenix Suns.
Now, the Phoenix Suns may be waiving Beasley after his arrest for marijuana possession in Scottsdale earlier this week. According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports, the Phoenix Suns have until August 31st to release Beasley, but it will probably take much less time than that.
Despite hiring a life coach for Beasley this past season, Beasley may now be a lost cause. In all likelihood, the Suns will waive and stretch Beasley, which means he’ll still collect his $9 million over the next 5 years, but he will no longer be a Phoenix Sun. It's hard to say now whether a team will take a gamble with the talented Beasley. You may have heard the expression, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Beasley has now fooled third teams, and unfortunately for him, he may not get a chance to do a fourth.
