The rich are getting richer in the NBA these days. After signing Ray Allen for half the amount that the Boston Celtics were offering him, the Miami Heat have now signed Rashard Lewis for the veteran’s minimum of $1.35 million. It was a shrewd decision for Lewis who will still be collecting $13.7 million from the New Orleans Hornets, while rebuilding his career by competing for a NBA championship. It’s a low-risk-high-reward contract.
If Lewis is focused and healthy, he and Allen can provide the outside shooting threats that none of the Big 3 really specialize in. And with the Big 3 constantly slashing, posting, and living in the paint, it’ll free up Allen and Lewis for wide open 3-pointers; making the current NBA champs even better than they were this past year.
