Many disheartened fans have been calling out for Champ Bailey’s roster spot ever since the Denver Broncos faced a double overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC Divisional title in the postseason. The Denver Broncos had been sitting on a food spot leading the AFC division through the regular season for the round 1 bye at the playoffs, when the team lost grasp of its’ regular season (12-3) efficiency. Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey, who had a phenomenal postseason campaign, was torched twice by rival wide receiver Torrey Smith on back-to-back plays in the 38-35 loss to eventual Super Bowl champions the Baltimore Ravens.

Once a monster in a overage and an absolute pain for quarterbacks, the 34-year-old Champ Bailey still hasn’t been able to play with the same efficiency. Many speculated Champ Bailey could be a potential cap causality as the teams started releasing veteran players to create cap space. Champ Bailey was expected to make overall $10.5 million in 2013 with $9.5 million in base salary. The 14-year NFL veteran Chap Bailey started 15 games while registering 66 tackles and two interceptions last season.

There were also reports about the possibility of the Denver Broncos moving the Champ Bailey from cornerback to safety but coach John Fox quickly dismissed those rumors.

Now, Mike Klis of Denver Post is reporting that Champ Bailey is likely to return next season with the Denver Broncos.

There was a speculative report out there that Champ Bailey is possible cap casualty.  Not true.  Champ will be Bronco,” tweeted Mike Klis.

After being drafted 7th overall by the Washington Redskins, Champ Bailey stayed for the first five seasons of his career with the team before spending the past 10 seasons with the Denver Broncos.

Champ Bailey was also a 12-time Pro Bowler who has a career 52 passes for interception.
