It turns out New York Jets coach Rex Ryan struggles to maintain control and possess equally bad judgment off-field as well. Following the New York Jets’ train wreck of a season, Rex Ryan reportedly caused a three-car pileup in Pennsylvania last week.
According to police report, the car crash happened around 6:15 p.m. Jan. 14 in Bethlehem as Rex Ryan was driving his red mustang westbound on the West 3rd street. As Rex Ryan ran through the West 3rd and Wyandotte street intersection, he crashed into another car which in turn collided with a third car, creating a three-car pileup.
Initially, the Bethlehem police only released a tweet around 6:30 p.m. warning of a car crash in the area of the Hill-to-Hill Bridge, but declined to provide further details. Later, the Bethlehem police confirmed that Rex Ryan was indeed involved in a three-car crash last week.
New York Jets media relations director Bruce Speight also confirmed that Rex Ryan was involved in a car crash in Bethlehem Jan. 14,but he did not sustain injuries.
According to reports, Rex Ryan allegedly ran a red light at the West 3rd and Wyandotte street intersection which contributed to the accident.
However, the police described the intersection as  a tricky turn.
“It's a blind hill to some degree," a Bethlehem police source said. "It kind of crests at Wyandotte Street."
The police added that Rex Ryan denied speeding at the intersection, and analysis of the crash scene did not indicate signs of speeding. However, Rex Ryan did not deny the allegations of running the red light at the intersection. The three vehicles involved in the crash only sustained “moderate” damage, according to the police source. All of the passengers and drivers in the three cars escaped the crash without injuries, according to police report.
Rex Ryan was neither ticketed or received summons following the car crash. However, a New York Jets source stated that Rex Ryan was issued a warning following the crash by the police.
It’s still unclear as to what Rex Ryan was doing driving through Bethlehem on Jan. 14. But there are speculations that Rex Ryan may have been in the area to meet former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg who was hired to the same post by New York Jets during the weekend.
