This horrifying trail of blood was left after Richard Zednik took an inadvertent high skate to his neck. It remains as stunning an image as Zednik managing to skate over to his Panthers bench to receive immediate attention. That help, upon second glance, has likely saved his life.
The Miami Herald confirms that the Panthers forward severed his carotid artery and nearly missed his jugular veins.
"Florida Panthers forward Richard Zednik required life-saving surgery after severing his carotid artery, his agent told The Associated Press on Monday.A quick study of the carotid artery confirms is severity. Great news all around to end the day with. Can't imagine playing hockey tonight with 100% aggressiveness. Good luck to Dallas and Phoenix.
