Manchester City midfielder David Silva has returned to the field with hot form. Silva’s teammate Micah Richards insists the Spanish midfielder is the best player he has ever played with. Silva has been in impressive form since returning from a long term injury.

The 27-year-old Spain international had a stunning performance against West Ham United in the midfield. Silva provided Sergio Aguero with an assist before scoring a goal himself in the 3-1 demolition of West Ham United.

Richards insists Silva has more of an impact at Manchester City than Patrick Vieira, Mario Balotelli or even Aguero.

“The only way I can stop him in training is if I smash him,” Richards said. “He doesn't come near me now! We have an agreement -- you don't come near me, I won't hurt you. We call him Merlin. He's like a little wizard isn't he? He is class.

“At West Ham he was just ridiculous. He is the best player I have played with. He just makes it look easy, the way he goes past people. He is just amazing.”

Silva, who joined Manchester City in 2010, has turned out to be the best signing the club has made. Richards claims Silva’s presence on the field often sets fire to players in a play.

Manchester City were only 1-0 up at halftime at Upton Park, but then Manuel Pellegrini’s men fired up the pistons to better the goal difference. Meanwhile, Manchester United weren’t able to pick up the three points from their game against Southampton, instead they picked up a single points because of a draw.

The draw leaves Manchester United eight points away from the Premier League leaders Arsenal.

“I didn't know United had conceded a late equalizer,” Richards added. “The manager said they had won, and that Arsenal and Chelsea had won so we thought we had to win against West Ham. Maybe it was a bit of reverse psychology. We just knew we had to win. We couldn't drop points.”
