Blogging the bases from Saturday's action ...
Cardinals 6, Dodgers 1 We touched on this yesterday, but this Rick Ankiel guy might have a future in the outfield. Not only is his bat hot, but Rick should make the web gem list as well. Opposing pitcher Derek Lowe was even caught up in the story: "I don't think (Ankiel) gets enough credit," Lowe said. "It wouldn't have mattered if he had started off 0 for 16. To have started as a pitcher and all of a sudden say, 'I'm a hitter' and make it to the major leagues ... you can't just call this kid up as a feel-good story. I am amazed at what he has been able to do. It's a phenomenal story."
Red Sox 6, Orioles 2 15th win for Josh Beckett, ML Best.
Brewers 7, Astros 4 Ryan Braun 3-run HR in the top of 9th gave Milwaukee some breathing room in the NL Central ... Rockies 15, Cubs 2 Ugh.
Tigers 5, A's 2 Look at that! Detroit found a way to win and the bullpen ever helped. Now just a 1/2 game behind in the AL Central ... Yankees 11, Indians 2
