Rick Ankiel: Reports of HGH Use Surface
When I hear news like this I always hesitate. Mostly because I don't want to believe it's true. I despise the Cardinals, but it's really disheartening to learn of HGH reports surfacing about Rick Ankiel's past/present.
The New York Daily News is reporting that Rick Ankiel received a 12-month supply of HGH in 2004.
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Rick Ankiel, baseball's feel-good story of the season, received a 12-month supply of human growth hormone in 2004 from a Florida pharmacy that was part of a national illegal prescription drug-distribution operation, the Daily News has learned. We know just about every player under the sun has taken some substance that ultimately should be deemed illegal and tested. It's not just Barry Bonds, we all know this.
If baseball doesn't lock up it's testing of HGH soon, I have a feeling they'll start losing fans again starting with me. It's hard to cheer on a good individual story in sports anymore without questioning the authenticity of the achievement.
