Robbery, Assault & Battery

I'm not going to go off too much about the Oklahoma St. game last night. My parlay came in and paid out at a rate of (-112), so it almost made the whole night a wash. But something really must be done about the officiating in the Big 12 - 2 conference.

That was just a terrible display last night by the guys with the whistles. This conference has already had it's share of problems with their officials this season, and it even forced the league office to issue an apology to Iowa St. for what happened at the end of the 'Clones last game against Kansas. Another one should be issued as a result of that debacle last night, but instead of being sent out to Baylor, said apology should be made to all the fans out there that had to witness that mess.

I do have to admit that it was all pretty even-handed, but all that means is that those clowns watching over last night's game were all around bad. I don't know if we were getting into the area of "make up calls", or if the zebras were just calling what they perceived to have happened on any given play instead of what they actually saw, but that last foul that allowed the Pokes to sink the 2 free throws that won the game didn't involve any contact at all. Or maybe it's a rules interpretation problem. When a kid drops his head so he's looking down at the floor, sticks his lead arm out, lowers his shoulder and plows into the defensive player like a battering ram, that's not a foul on the defensive player. If anything, it's a "play on", but in every other conference in the nation, it's an offensive foul. The kid from Baylor has the move perfected though, and he got away with it a number of times; all resulting in free throws, which he made.

I know it's not going to happen, but if I'm in the NCAA offices, I'm seeing this disgusting performance and banning all Big 12 minus 2 officials from getting anywhere near any of The Madness sites this year. That should result, then, in every single one of them getting their pink slips from the conference. Yes! If you didn't see it, and haven't seen a Big 12 game all season long, it is that bad.

COLLEGE HOOPS (17-17 ATS/20-13 SU/16-18 TOTALS last night and 36-36/42-29/38-34 so far for the week)

BUTTA (1-1 last night and 4-1 so far for the week)

I thought I might have something with the OVER in the Tulsa/Memphis matchup out of C-USA tonight, but I kept digging, and the fact that not only do I not like TOTALS, but I also see that 8 of the last 11 games in this series have stayed UNDER has got me off that idea.

BUTTA (no play last night and 1-2 so far for the week)

Heat (-240) over BUCKS - The Champs look to continue their long winning streak against a Bucks team that beat them badly back at the end of December. The Bucks are also a tired team and will be playing their 5th game in 7 nights. I don't think the (-6) hung on the Heat is a bad number. They're 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games, and the Bucks are only 6-14 ATS in their last 20 games and 18-37 ATS in their last 55 home games. The only fly in the ointment appears to be that Miami is only 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against Central division teams. I'll just take the Heat to win the game. Heat 104, BUCKS 96

We've almost made it through these crazy time crunches caused by the fact that some of these matchups aren't even known till close to midnight in The Book. Things will definitely settle down once we get past Sunday. Have a great Friday, be careful out there tonight and I'll see you again tomorrow.
