Blog Photo - Robert Griffin III Takes "Full Speed" Reps at PracticeMany media members expected Redskin's quarterback Robert Griffin III (knee) to play in last week's game against the Browns (which he didn't), so it was reasonable to expect him to put in some good practice time this week. Fortunately for the Redskins (and unfortunately for the rest of the NFC East), Griffin has already put in a full practice at the midpoint of the week. After Wednesday's practice, Griffin told reporters that he "went full speed with the live reps." Not only was Griffin able to go full speed, but he noted that he "felt no weakness or instability" in his sprained knee. Though he admitted that whether or not he gets the start on Sunday is not up to him, he did state that he is in fact "ready to play."

RG3's return comes at a good time, as he'll be able to get back in rhythm against the Eagles this week before facing the Cowboys in what's shaping up to be a vital Week 17 showdown. If Griffin were unable to play this week, however, they would still be a good bet to top the 4-10 Eagles, whose defense gives up the 7th most points in the NFL.

Griffin's backup, fellow rookie Kirk Cousins, has played extremely well in limited action this season, and most recently led the Redskins to a victory over the Cleveland Browns. Cousins helped his offense put up 38 points against a Browns defense that had been playing very well over the previous two months. Cousins' quarterback rating is now 101.6 through the first 48 attempts of his career, and he certainly has the ability to get the Redskins by the struggling Eagles.

Though Cousins has proven to be a reliable option, Griffin is expected to start "barring any setbacks." With knee injuries, one of the biggest hurdles is avoiding swelling the day after an injured player's first full practice. Therefore, we'll have a better idea of Griffin's status on Thursday, but it seems he's all set to go.

Fantasy owners of RG3 can count on their draft-day steal to lead their championship charge on Sunday, but it would be wise to secure a reliable backup, just in case Griffin can't go. In my waiver wire column, I suggested Russell Wilson and Sam Bradford, though picking up Kirk Cousins wouldn't be a bad move for Griffin owners either.
