Robert Griffin III was already slated to be one of the top picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, so he's really just using the Combine to show how impressive he really is, physically.Griffin ran a 4.38-second 40 yard dash, the 2nd best time ever for a QB, trailing only Michael Vick's 4.33.
Griffin ran twice, with a time of 4.41 in his first attempt, and then the 4.38 in his second.
You can watch Griffin's blazing speed on the NFL website. If you watch the video, you can see that he looks completely effortless.
This probably won't affect his draft position all that much, since most people assumed he was going in the top 2 anyway, but it's incredible to see just how fast he really is.
Andrew Luck is the popular choice for the top QB in the draft, but RGIII has a chance to be a truly special player, and it should be exciting to watch him in action on Sundays.

Pat,
At the end of your article it sounded like you wanted to say GR3 would be better than Luck.

Well said, you said all the things I was thinking.

So what does a 40 time have to do with reading defenses and throwing the football? I think he will do well in the NFL, but I don't see how a 40 time alone puts Griffin III in a nice spot unless a team wants him to return kicks as well as quarterback.

People seem to be shocked by Luck's 40 time, which was a VERY respectable 4.67, but I'm not sure why anyone didn't see it coming. If they saw him play, they'd know he can run.

Robert Griffin, I'll let you have your 40 time, but I don't think you can do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4_w-puInqY&feature=youtu.be
