Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is frustrated at the lack of transfer activity at Eastlands. In an interview to ESPN, Roberto Mancini insisted Manchester City to bring in new blood to strengthen the squad.
Roberto Mancini believes it will be hard for Manchester City to reclaim the Premier League title without new signings. The Italian also expressed his frustration over losing Robin van Persie. The Arsenal striker, who has refused to extend his contract with the Gunners, is being targeted by Juventus and Manchester United.
Roberto Mancini warned Manchester City officials about the challenges the club was going to face this season. Manchester City won its first Premier League title in 44 years last season. With Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle United strengthening their squad to match Manchester City, Roberto Mancini believes his club should bring in more players to gain an edge against competitors.
According to Roberto Mancini, Brian Marwood is the man responsible for Manchester City’s lack of transfer activity. When Roberto Mancini was questioned about new transfer signings, the Italian regretfully remarked that he wasn’t “the man in charge”. According to reports, Brian Marwood decided to stay at home in Manchester instead of travelling with the squad to China.
“For this question, speak to the man in charge. I am not in charge of this,” Roberto Mancini said. “It is important [to bring players in] because, after what we did last year, it is important we continue to win.
“This year will not be easy. It will be harder than last year and for this reason, we need to improve our team. But I am not the man in charge of this. We have a man who works for this and we hope that they can do a good job.”
Manchester City’s first objective in the transfer window will be to confirm the signing of Arsenal ace Robin van Persie. The Dutchman is ready for a move to Manchester City; henceforth the matter is all about money right now. According to reports, Manchester City is leading the race to sign in Robin van Persie. Nonetheless, Roberto Mancini decided to remain coy about the whole transfer saga.
“It is difficult to say at this moment,” Roberto Mancini said. “Van Persie is an Arsenal player, not our player. He is a fantastic player, but we have four strikers and with those strikers we won the title last year.
“Van Persie is a fantastic player, but he is an Arsenal player.”
