Rockies and Padres Just Finished 22-Inning Marathon
READ MORE:
MLB

Walking through last night's this morning's MLB action ...

I was having a little trouble sleeping last night, earthquake notwithstanding, and figured I'd try and snooze off to some 3 am ESPNews. Wait, there's a baseball game still going on? Top of the 22nd?

It's rare Extra Innings package comes in handy to deliver some extra innings at 3 am.

The final tally:

- 6 hours and 16 minutes of 3 run baseball.
- 15 pitchers used
- 658 pitches (Dusty Baker was jealous)
- Rockies struck out a record 20 times
- No runs scored until the 14th inning
- During the 17th inning, Jake Peavy (who started the game) brought a ram head to the dugout and taped it's eyes shut. Seriously.
- Willy Taveras had 10 at-bats.

Mercifully, Troy Tulowitzki double in Willy Taveras - who was nearly asleep at 2nd base - for the game winner. Rockies 2, Padres 1.

****

Red Sox 7, Yankees 5
- Just a hunch, but I'm thinking Mike Mussina might want to intentionally walk Manny Ramirez the rest of the season. PWND. Three of his five home run have come off of a Mussina pitch that missed it's mark.

Brewers 5, Cardinals 3 - Prince Fielder averaged a home run in every 15 at-bats before this season. Coincidentally, he recently went vegetarian and hadn't sent one in his first 54 at-bats. So either he had a cheeseburger before the game or Fielder is finally coming around, sending his 1st of the year out in the top of the 9th for a Brewers win.

Reds 9, Cubs 2 - Ted Lilly Sucks Part 3.

Orioles 6, White Sox 5 - He'd rather not be confused with Pacman Jones ... this will help his cause. How about Mr. Walk Off?

Lastly, here's the ESPN E:60 interview with Miguel Tejada. Yeah, they totally weren't planning on calling him out. I believe you've been Punk'd, sir.

I was going to applaud those fans, but I suppose you're right.

At that point everything in the Gaslamp District is closed and TJ is too risky.

While at the Royals/Angels contest and noticing that this game was zeros going into the 11th I wondered how black were Jake Peavy's hands?

Apparently everyone may have been dipping into Peavy's private stash last night.

Oh and as for the White Sox loss.

(Grabs and rolls up the newspaper)

"Bad bullpen, bad"

(Cracks Logan, Linebrink and Jenks across the face with newspaper)

"Look what you did! Bad bullpen, bad!"
