Going into Week 10, the Ravens were 7-2 and the Steelers 5-3, with the two games between them yet to be played. Their division hopes rested with those two games, and any chance of winning them rested, we now know, with Roethlisberger. The Steeler offense has gone dormant as his understudies have been forced to take the helm.
With Big Ben out yet again going into Baltimore, the Steelers aren't just saying goodbye to the division, but are now just barely clinging to that 6th wildcard spot. Moreover, the injury has cemented that each division in the AFC will go uncontested down to the wire.
The North now belongs to Baltimore, the East to New England. Peyton has taken the West into his own hands and the Texans have been assorting their dominance in the South since Week 1. I for one enjoy just about every minute of football, down to the final week, but if there's any season in which the playoffs can't come soon enough, this would be it. The injury to Ben Roethlisberger is unfortunate not just for the Steelers and their fans, but for football fans everywhere as one more division can be signed sealed and delivered a full month before the season comes to a close.
