The irony of the hearings on February 13th in Washington D.C, is that the most damage anyone has actually received is from the untelevised meetings between Senator Arlen Specter and Roger Goodell. From this hearing we've learned that the Patriots have been taping opponents since 2000, that Goodell punished the Patriots without ever seeing the evidence, and still hasn't provided a legit reason for destroying the evidence (which was done in Foxboro, not league offices. This is what Specter had to say:
"The commissioner confirmed the taping had been going on since the year 2000. He made no valid explanation for [destroying the evidence]. There are a couple other major problems he had, to say the least. The taping occurred on Sept. 9. "He imposed the fine on the 13th, didn't get the material until the 17th and destroyed it on the 20th. He imposed the fine before he had the notes and tapes.''
If it isn't obvious to you yet that Goodell is covering up for the owner who gave him his job, then you must be a Patriots fan. Goodell has no problem suspending players without giving them due justice, but when a franchise strips the game of its integrity that gets a slap on the wrist? Great priorities there, Mr. Goodell.
