Ron Artest has gotten a lot better since his days as the NBA's poster boy for ridiculous and offensive behavior. But apparently he's still kind of a moron, as evidenced by him tossing Trevor Ariza's sneaker off the court. Way to go, Ron. Outstanding sportsmanship.

It's clearly on the video that Artest threw the shoe on purpose!!! What an AZZ!!! I wish the Lakers would have never signed him..........he is STILL an IDIOT!!

I don't know what Artest was thinking. Way to show your sportsmanship. I'm glad the Rockets got rid of him.

Wanted to give you respect there, but I'm all out...I probably the biggest Lakers fan you'll ever talk to, and this is the funniest stuff I've seen in awhile. I love trevor Ariza, and I wish he would have stayed because he's a local Southern Cali baller and a big offensive threat. I love Ron's great D though!!
Ron totally threw his shoe off the court when Trevor was trying to pick it up...Looked like he was playing some "street ball" but I'm not sure I've ever seen that done on the street either.
Slow news day??? WTF are these people talking about??? It's a Monday which is full of tons of sporting news from over the weekend, and this topic fits in perfectly... The Ariza and Artest story is big news especially as Ariza was given his "HUUUUGE ROCK" just minutes before Artest threw Ariza's shoe off the court...

We're a blog, not a newspaper. I love how people say that every day, as if they still don't understand how it works.

This really shouldn't be a issue. People are getting desperate for some sort of drama.

It could have been he was reaching for it because he wanted to get it off the court and when he saw Ariza he really didn't stop himself from throwing it. Meaning, it could have started out honest, but ended up just kind of bitchy.

Ya know... Honest Mistake!!

Hey boxing out is such a lost art, I am glad to see it under any circumstances, somewhere Wes Unseld is rolling over in his waterbed, filled entirely with BBQ and smiling.

I don't have Artest's eyes, so maybe he did see Ariza's arm reaching for it as well, but I really didn't see it like that at all in the couple of times I watched it. He was bending over and getting it out of the field of play, that's all I saw.

It's not bad sportsmanship or even a shady play, it looked like there he was just doing what he figured was correct, and I think so too.
Ariza was also reaching for the shoe at the same time. Artest boxed out Ariza from his own shoe.

I really don't think it's that bad at all. Ariza was behind him, and obviously can't know that he's getting ready to grab it as well. You're always told to clear the court of shoes or anything else that comes off so someone doesn't step on it. Imagine Kobe or another Laker player making a steal, shoe still sitting right there on the court, they go up for a lay up and twists his ankle.
