Rory Sabbatini Withdraws from Target World Challenge; Perhaps He's Still Traumatized By Kangaroo Incident
READ MORE:

Rory Sabbatini is still laying claim to the tour d-bag. In the PGA's last event of the season, Sabbatini was last headed into today's final round of Tiger Woods' event, the Target World Challenge and decided to withdraw without much notice.

"A locker room attendant, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release information, said Sabbatini cleaned out his locker Saturday afternoon and gave away sweaters and shoes. He told them he was headed to Maui, where he spends his Christmas vacation. His agent, Bud Martin, said Sabbatini told him he withdrew because of shin splints.

"He had shin splints that were bothering him yesterday," Martin said after talking to Sabbatini on Sunday morning. "He went home overnight and worked on them with his trainer, and they weren't getting any better. He said he wasn't going to risk it.""

Now, Sabbatini might have a pretty good reason for personal issues. He did have this encounter with a friendly Kangaroo who played a little how's your father in front of him last week. Surely, you've seen the video by now but if not ... enjoy.

Tiger Woods, the host of the event, was none too pleased.

"I've heard he had shin splints," Woods said. "I heard he pulled out for personal reason. He packed his locker up at 3 o'clock yesterday, I think headed to Hawaii. A lot of different things going on. And I'd like to try and get to the bottom of it when I'm done here, and we'll see what happens."

Later, he was asked if he minded that Sabbatini left, and a cold stare spoke volumes.

Maybe Rory's just looking to meet back up with his friend from down under?

It took me awhile to figure out if you meant the devil or the kangaroo.

What I am really interested in knowing is whether Rory Sabatini collected his cheque for 170 grand before leaving for “hawaii” to rest and recuperate and to get his shin back in shape. It would be a shame if someone managed to get the host worked up, performed abysmally and left without any reasonable explanation and still had $170,000 added to his account.

Apparently this guy has an “other side” to him and does a lot of charitable work. It is also quite possible that he was actually suffering from Shin Splits (term for the pain felt on the front and inside of the lower leg due to inflamed muscles and/or tendons)

But if you are willing to shoot from the lip you have got to be able to back it up with solid performance. Sure he is right Tiger Woods is beatable. Which sportsmen would be able to compete if he went into an event thinking someone will definitely outdo him but the manner in which Rory aired his comment was not all that flattering and after that if he performs miserably time and again one is left wondering why he felt compelled to go out and do some Tiger taunting. Even the young and dare I say brash Aussie Jason Day found support from Rory when he made airy comments about getting out there and hunting down the Tiger. That is the thing with sports, you should let your performance do the talking. Mere words will get you nowhere and such people are more likely to be remembered for their gibberish than any recognition for years of toil in their field.
