Rose Bowl And Sugar Bowl Live Thread: #8 Ohio State vs #7 Oregon, #3 Cincinnati vs #5 Florida

Time For The Rose Bowl For Oregon And Ohio State, And The Consolation Bowl For Cincy [BCS Bowls Live Thread]

1/1/10 in NCAAF   |   Pat   |   5229 respect

4:30 pm EST - Rose Bowl Game

#7 Oregon vs #8 Ohio State [ABC]
64% picked Oregon
Average score: 27-25

8:00 pm EST - Sugar Bowl
#3 Cincinnati vs #5 Florida [FOX]
74% picked Florida
Average score: 32-25

Cincinnati did everything they needed to do to get to the National Championship game... except get a high enough preseason ranking to put themselves into legitimate contention. So instead, they get Florida in the Sugar Bowl tonight.

Before that, we'll have the tradition-rich Rose Bowl, featuring Ohio State, a regular in the game, and Oregon, who's just holding USC's spot for a year while they wallow in mediocrity. 64% picked Oregon to win, but the Pac-10 has looked pretty terrible so far in bowl games, so we'll see how that goes.

If you're watching the games, chat it up with us here all night and as always enjoy the games!

I always thought players signed the scholarships with the school not the coach. If a person has a chance to improve his career his first responsiblity is to his family......just like any other career choice. The Cincinnati players are not pop warner kids, this is just something that happens at all colleges.....it might not be good but lots of things in life are alot worse.

This is a good reason for a play off in college football . OHIO STATE KICKED OREGONS ASS THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE!!!

Dont get me wrong, it's obvious that Cincinnati didnt have the talent to compete with Florida but last I checked, Urban Meyer didnt tell his players he was staying and then the next day desert them to take another job. There is something to be said about a coach who recruits the players, becomes basically there second dad, promises to be there for them when they play the biggest game in the program and then suddenly leaves them to go somewhere else. You cant tell me that didnt have an impact on the pysche of the Bearcats

Well, they had some huge help from the Big East chiefs and the officiating crew in the "championship" game against Pitt. They were decent at best in that game, but take away the help they got, and, well...you can see on your TV how that's working out

1/1/10   |   celticfc411   |   51 respect

Finally Cincy gets exposed for the fraud team they are. Without a Big East officiating crew to gift them a minimum of 10 points (like in the game they "won" against Pitt), they're pretty pathetic.

Regardless of what he does or doesn't do in the NFL, I'm a Tebow fan for the pasting he's laid on the Bearcats

Wow....the Pac 10 was 2-5 this year in Bowl games--USC and UCLA with the only wins.  At least the Rose Bowl was a good game--congrats to the Buckeye fans.  As for Oregon, the good news is they'll return 18 starters including their quarterback Masoli, and Freshman RB sensation LaMichael James (who ran for 1500+yards this season with a 6.7 yd avg), and two of their top three receivers.  They should be ranked in the top 5 to begin next season.

I belive the Ducks will make it next year and bring it home. Today's game was a good game and I also belive that if Blount hadn't Blundered we would have made it today. 2011 will be the Ducks Year!!

Referee's are just making it their game now. It's their own fault for letting it go on for so long, and now on a play that wasn't even dead, you're throwing flags for playing the game.

Ephesians 2:8-10 is Tim Tebow's choice for his final college football game.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to

Now the Pryor interception, not the time for his little touch pass, especially with missing Herron with his defender on the ground in the middle of the field. I was thinking Pryor just picked up his confidence too.

Buckeyes with I think their most impressive drive today, but it comes up short, FG is still good however and OSU comes right back and retakes the lead 19-17.

1/1/10   |   SnFlwr071s   |   13 respect

I have to admit that was a nice pass by Pryor

TD Ducks, lead 17-16.

Why are the Buckeyes in this game, and somehow even leading 16-10?

Time of Possession: Ohio State - 22:23 Oregon - 7:37

If they keep that sort of domination in the second half, I don't see how it's possible they can lose (Ignores Dolphins/Colts game).

1/1/10   |   SnFlwr071s   |   13 respect

Well thats the end of the first half. Now this is where the Ducks come out fighting and take over. It should be an even better second half.

1/1/10   |   SnFlwr071s   |   13 respect

I don't know what to say to that interception

1/1/10   |   Chief_aka_James   |   3292 respect

Buckeyes catching some breaks, but still putting together a very nice drive to slow down this game.

1/1/10   |   SnFlwr071s   |   13 respect

That was a great move for the Ducks LOL Touch Down Ducks all tied up now and the Ducks are movin on up. Blount was using the Bucks for the TD great move.

1/1/10   |   Chief_aka_James   |   3292 respect

Blount was in, his body was over both OSU defensive men, tie game pending PAT.

1/1/10   |   Chief_aka_James   |   3292 respect

What a catch on 4th down there, I was thinking the Buckeyes had a shot if their defense made that stop, but now, Ducks just rolling down inside the 5, about to tie this game up.

That was awful. Oregon has already made their necessary adjustments and I don't trust Ohio State to make theirs.  This could get ugly.

The jersey's they have on are not the best I will agree, they used silver for the lettering and they should have used Yellow or even White for goodness sakes. They have 6 different one's they could have chosen better. LOL

Nice to see Oregon saved their ugliest jerseys for their biggest game of the year.  Geez they look like they intentionally left them out in the sun to fade after they applied the almost unreadable rollerball numbers...

Yea, way back when in '85 when they last laid their egg by losing 20-17 to USC. I mean, that was the last time they lost in the Rose Bowl, maybe you could've said BCS Bowl Game and it might've made some more sense.

I also assume Oregon is going to win this one easily, but OSU is playing a damn good 1st quarter, we'll see if they can keep it up.

I have to agree OSU is playing a good first quarter, but the Ducks Always rally and come back.

And.. if TCU and Florida switched bowl berths, the BCS matchups would 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, 5 vs 6, 7 vs 8, and 9 vs 10. Damn you BCS, you can't do anything right!
