Derrick Rose deserved the spotlight as he helped Chicago Bulls to a 100-94 win over the Detroit Pistons. The 23-year-old point guard scored 24 points, which included a 3-point that forced the game into overtime, to guide the Bulls to an emphatic victory on Sunday.
Joakim Noah was also impressive. Noah put 20 points and 17 rebounds on the score-sheet to acquire praise for his efforts.
Detroit was just out of luck against Chicago on Sunday. Rodney Stuckey scored a game-high of 32 points for Detroit, however he missed three free throws in the final moments of the fourth quarter. These missed chances could have changed the outcome for Detroit.
Meanwhile, Rose continued to impress his fans with his impeccable timing. Roses’ drives were flawless once again; and so was the 3-pointer he scored with just six seconds remaining on the clock.
Chicago kept their head above the water in overtime thanks to Noah, who not only dominated the game but kept scoring and assisting too. It’s far too obvious to state now, but Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City are the only teams left that can give Chicago a run for the money.
Heat is obviously destined to rule the Eastern Conference, or so the pundits say, but Bulls’ likelihood of succeeding is pretty high too.
Bulls’ classical surge in the last moments of the game often perturbs their opponents. Noah’s form in during the last stages of the game will be the key to Chicago’s success this season. Noah tipped in and assisted Carlos Boozer on a lay-up to put the Bulls ahead with 92-89 in overtime.
Stuckey provided resistance from Detroit’s camp but he alone was doing all the hard work. With 1:43 remaining on the clock, he drove successfully for a lay-up to bring the score at 92-91.
Kyle Korver struck a 3-pointer for Chicago from Noah’s pass before Noah drove in for a lay-up which brought the score to 97-91. With 29 seconds remaining on the clock Bulls had the advantage.
Stuckey came up with a 3-pointer soon afterwards, but unlike him Bulls converted their free throws into score to secure a well-deserved victory.
