With their playoff chances out of the picture this year, the Toronto Raptors may shut down newly acquired Rudy Gay for the rest of the season. Gay recently suffered a series of back injuries that he has painfully played through the past three games.
This past Saturday against the Knicks, however, Gay was limited to only 14 minutes, while going 2 of 7. Gay was clearly in pain and was unable to finish playing.
After Gay’s therapy treatment on Saturday, coach Dwane Casey said that, "I would say that it's something that will be talked about sooner rather than later.”
With nothing on the line for the Raptors this year, it may be in the Raptors best interest to shut down their future franchise player until next year.
