Actor Russell Crowe has eliminated cheerleaders from the Rugby Club he owns (South Sydney). He reasoned that it makes among other factors that the dancing on the sidelines made the men uncomfortable. Hmm.
Percusion group. Boy, that'll do the trick. I obviously understand Crowe's reason and of course it's a progressive move, but I'm just a little surprised it's Russell Crowe respecting women here. Roger Goodell, don't you get any crazy ideas."The focus on game day should be a positive experience for the crowd.
"We feel they (cheerleaders) made a lot of people uncomfortable."
"We felt we didn't need cheerleaders and would like them replaced by a group of drummers, male and female.

Cheerleaders in Rugby League is such a waste of time. Especially when the crowd knows the routine better then they do ... ha ha ha ...

Hooray!
Cheerleaders spoil rugby and rugby league viewing...there aren't any natural breaks like gridiron. At half time, you're off to get some food, so I never get to see them...

I would think having cheerleaders on the sideline would act as a calming effect in case your team is losing, thereby keeping you from getting too upset and doing things like assaulting people with telephones.
