From there, the #HotSportsTake came rolling in. From Jeff Passan to Bill Plascke to Atlanta Journal Constitution columnist Jeff Schultz (who gets the honor of writing about the defenders of everything sacred in baseball, the Braves).
Standing ovation for Ryan Braun in Milwaukee is about the least surprising thing on Opening Day. Great message. Lie and we love you anyway.Ryan Braun just given standing o in his first AB in Milw after a 65-game suspenion for lying and drugging...to the cheater goes the spoils

Ryan Braun is liar and cheater. But #Brewers fans give him ovation because he's their liar, cheater. http://t.co/LClZJFjeP

And there were others. A quick search for Ryan Braun on Twitter will get you all caught up.
Now, I am undoubtedly biased. The Brewers are my team and Ryan Braun is their best player in a few decades. I love the guy. But its worth noting (with the exception of Passan) that these were the same guys idly sitting by as obvious and rampant steroid use saved baseball with the home run chases of 1998 and 2003. These guys, supposedly seeking integrity (and nailing Braun for lying when they would've nailed him for "cheating" had he been honest) had no problem looking past what was in front of their eyes because it was saving the sport they loved. I can't necessarily knock them for that. I get why they looked the other way. It was fun. But don't be a hypocritical douche canoe.
Ryan Braun will have returns to other stadiums. They won't go as well (for him, at least). Cubs fans will have their fun. The holier than thou Cardinals fans and media will get sanctimonious and everyone will agree because the Cardinals win and do things the "right" way. The #HotSportsTakes will continue all year. Just know that most people spewing them are completely full of crap. Especially the Cardinals.
