Chicks (and baseball writers) dig the long ball.
As I suspected earlier today the voters deemed the home run far sexier than double plays. Ryan Braun's 34 HR propelled him to take home the NL Rookie of the Year Award by a mere 2 points over Troy Tulowitzki.
The 2-point margin is the closest margin since the voting when to the current structure in 1980. Hunter Pence finished 3rd and Chris Young 4th. Braun clearly had a fantastic season but I don't know where the Rockies would have been with the bat AND glove of Tulowitzki.
In the AL, Dustin Pedroia ran away with the ROY grabbing all but 4 first place votes. Delmon Young finished 2nd, Brian Bannister 3rd and Daisuke Matsuzaka 4th.
