Ryan Braun admits to using PEDs and apologizes
MLB, Ryan Braun

Ryan Braun has finally admitted to using PEDs, and has apologized. Too little, too late?

Mandatory Credit: Benny Sieu-USA TODAY SportsAbout two years after his original positive test, Ryan Braun has finally admitted to using performance enhancing drugs.

He also apologized to fans, teammates, the commissioner, and most importantly the sample collector whom Braun slandered following his positive test, even going so far as to say that the man was anti-Semetic.

Braun believes he did the right thing, although some would say it's a bit late for that.
"By coming forward when I did and waiving my right to appeal any sanctions that were going to be imposed, I knew I was making the correct decision and taking the first step in the right direction. It was important to me to begin my suspension immediately to minimize the burden on everyone I had so negatively affected -- my teammates, the entire Brewers organization, the fans and all of MLB."

While I think the MLB investigation was a bit over the top, Braun definitely didn't make the correct decision. He badmouthed a good man, lied to teammates, friends, family and fans, and he ended up hurting the team more in the long run by getting suspended longer than the original 50 games.

I've said many times that personally, I have no problem with players using PEDs. It honestly doesn't bother me. But when you take down an innocent man in an attempt to cover up your own lies, you're absolutely doing the wrong thing.

Are you ready to forgive Ryan Braun?

I have no sympathy or forgiveness for an athlete that goes out of his way to lie or slander innocent people in order to keep their lies intact.  IMO, Ryan Braun isn't scum because he took PED's.  He is scum for the way he tried to get away with it at the expense of others.

And despite what he thinks, the burden won't be minimized until Braun actually gets in front of a camera and takes responsibility for his actions.  Until then, this just sits on the back burner and festers.

I don't know why Braun even bothered. There is nothing he could say that was satisfy those out for blood. Nothing.

I saw something the other day that said something to the effect of, if athletes can't use PEDs, then magazines shouldn't be able to photoshop supermodels. I actually think that makes a lot of sense (I don't feel strongly one way or another on the PED issue.)

The thing with Braun that kills me is the same as what happened with Lance Armstrong, and others. It's not that they did it - it's that they kept denying, denying, denying, and even being somewhat nasty in their claims of innocence only to turn around and say "okay, yea, I did it."
