In close race, Milwaukee Brewers' outfielder Ryan Braun was named National League MVP today. Matt Kemp of the Dodgers was second and Braun's teammate Prince Fielder was third.

Braun, who hit .332 with 33 homers and 111 RBI, received 20 of the 32 first-place votes. Kemp received 10 while Fielder and Arizona Diamondbacks' outfielder Justin Upton each got one.

Kemp, who recently received a massive contract extension from the Dodgers, flirted with the NL Triple Crown this year. The rangy-center fielder hit .324 with a league-leading 39 home runs and 126 RBI. He also led the NL in runs scored and total bases.

Upton finished fourth, and Cardinals' first baseman Albert Pujols was fifth.
