Mandatory Credit: Jeff Curry-US PRESSWIREThe MLB trade deadline is upon us, and one of the most significant moves this year just happened, with Ryan Dempster being shipped from the the Cubs to the Rangers.

Dempster was almost traded to the Braves about a week ago, but refused to waive his no-trade clause.

Word on the street was that Dempster would only accept a trade to the Dodgers, which took away any leverage the Cubs may have previously had in a trade involving the pitcher with the 2nd best ERA in baseball.

Dempster later changed his tune, and said that he'd accept a trade to _______ and Buster Olney has reported that the Rangers have closed the deal for the 35-year old righty.

The Yankees were also involved in talks for Dempster as the deadline approached, but lost out.

This trade will certainly bolster the Rangers' rotation, and help them greatly as they attempt to close out the AL West and advance to the World Series for a 3rd consecutive year.

We'll keep you posted if any more major deals were completed at the deadline, which just passed at 4 p.m. EST.
