Vasquez-USA TODAY SportsJust days after scoring his first career hattrick, Ryan Getzlaf sat out Sunday night’s game with an upper body injury.

The Anaheim Ducks Captain’s health caused him to scratch just before their game against the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night.

Getzlaf was injured on Friday morning when he slipped during the Ducks’ morning skate, and they weren’t sure if he’d play that night, but he did. Getzlaf didn’t seem to be hindered at all when he scored three goals in the first period.

Coach Bruce Boudreau said that Getzlaf missed practice on Saturday because of a “four-point maintenance day.”

Since Getzlaf was able to play so well on Friday, he might just be experiencing some soreness, but there shouldn’t be anything seriously wrong.

The Ducks were able to pull out a win in spite of their Captain’s absence and kept their undefeated record at home at 8-0.
