Graeme McDowell completely missing on a high five attempt. That's sort of how it's gone for the Europeans: close, but just not connecting enough.
The last two Ryder Cup's the Europeans took a nearly unbeatable lead into Sunday's singles matches, but this year they'll be playing from behind. Thanks to Steve Stricker's clutch putt in the last group on the 18th hole, the United States takes a 9-7 lead.
At numerous moments Saturday, a US 10-6 lead seemed likely, but just as often it appeared Europe may take the lead but just not enough shots fell in the final pairings. A great Ryder Cup should get even better when the golfers go head-to-head.
Here's the pairings today:
12:03 p.m. Anthony Kim vs. Sergio Garcia
12:14 p.m. Hunter Mahan vs. Paul Casey
12:25 p.m. Justin Leonard vs. Robert Karlsson
12:36 p.m. Phil Mickelson vs Justin Rose
12:47 p.m. Kenny Perry vs. Henrik Stenson
12:58 p.m. Boo Weekley vs. Oliver Wilson
1:09 p.m. J.B. Holmes vs. Soren Hansen
1:20 p.m. Jim Furyk vs. Miguel Angel Jimenez
1:31 p.m. Stewart Cink vs. Graeme McDowell
1:42 p.m. Steve Stricker vs. Ian Poulter
1:53 p.m. Ben Curtis vs. Lee Westwood
2:04 Chad Campbell vs. Padraig Harrington
You can see Paul Azinger wanted to get off to an early lead today, while Nick Faldo went with three of his best to close it out. Something tells me Steve Stricker will hit the clinching putt today.
