SHOCKER: Chris Paul to Re-sign with Clippers

With all the hoopla surrounding Dwight Howard's meeting schedule and the Eric Bledsoe trade-talk, Los Angeles kind of took Chris Paul for granted - and for good reason, because his representatives have just notified the Clippers and other teams of his intent to re-sign with the Clippers to remain in LA.

Blog Photo - SHOCKER: Chris Paul to Re-sign with ClippersHis lifestyle change from New Orleans two years ago must have had some impact on his decision. He relocated his family to Southern California and apparently, the lifestyle suits him well. He has increased his off-the-court income by landing State Farm as a big endorsement opportunity in addition to his Jordan relationship (which his teammate Blake Griffin now shares with him too).

With Doc Rivers and Alvin Gentry in and Vinny Del Negro out, the Clippers have established a commitment to defense AND offense while drafting a very capable floor-spreader in Reggie Bullock from North Carolina. CP3 will get a lot richer and hopefully add some hardware to his trophy case. 5-years and approximately $111 million sounds about right for the top point guard in the game.

Doc is certainly excited to pair his coaching with his player coach on the floor. Paul and Griffin will be the centerpiece of a squad looking to completely remove themselves from the Lakers shadow. It will take time and some Finals trips - but the Clippers have it in them. At least it appears that way.

Good job Chris.  New contract, new Coach and yet when all is said and done, still no championships.
