The Ron Burkle (a billionaire), Mark Mastrov (24-Hour Fitness owner) and Vivek Ranadive (TIBCO chairman) group has made a bid to buy the Kings if the Seattle deal is turned down by the NBA.

Likely, the Sacramento city council will approve the $448 million downtown area deal on Tuesday, so they just need to wait for the NBA Board of Governors meeting to take place in New York on April 18-19 to look at the ownership bids.

At this meeting, they'll look at the Seattle group's offer and either accept or decline, and then Sacramento will have their chance. So for now, the city is hoping and praying that the Seattle group's proposal has things the Board doesn't like.

Orf course, Sacramento's Mayor Kevin Johnson was really excited and tweeted:

Ya know, as a Seattle enthusiast I would love to see them get both an NBA and NHL team but I'm so sick of this back-and-forth with Sacramento that it's soured me on what little interest I did have in latching on to an NBA team, should one make its way to Seattle. Pretty much over it.
