Saint Mary's vs. Purdue [Game info and open thread]
About Saint Mary's:
The Gaels (27-5) were the regular season and tournament champions of the West Coast Conference and might be a bit underrated with a No. 7 seed. Consider that three of their five losses came against other tournament teams, they have two wins over Gonzaga, who destroyed West Virginia on Thursday, and are ranked in the nation's top-25. Saint Mary's is led by one of the best point guards in the nation, junior Matthew Dellavedova, who averages 15.6 points and 6.4 assists a game.
The Boilermakers (21-12) finished sixth in a very strong Big Ten this season. Matt Painter's squad sports non-conference wins over Iona and Temple. Their best player is Robbie Hummel, who is hard not to root for. In 2009-10, when Purdue was one of the nation's top teams, Hummel tore his ACL and missed the NCAA Tournament, and then he re-tore the ligament last season and missed the whole year. Now, as a fifth-year senior, Hummel is back in the tournament. For the year he leads Purdue with 16.3 points and 7.1 rebounds a game.
