Saints find their interim coach, now searching for an interim interim coach
If you're wondering why Vitt's name sounds familiar, it's because he's one of the guys who was suspended in the BountyGate fallout.
Yes, you read that correctly. The Saints have named Joe Vitt, who will be suspended for 6 games, the interim coach while Sean Payton is suspended.
One would think the Saints would find someone who could coach the entire year, but now they're still looking for someone who can be the interim coach while their interim coach is suspended.
So far, it looks like it will be offensive line coach Aaron Kromer.
The whole situation is rather messy, since the Saints clearly have no interest in finding anything more than a temporary replacement for Payton. Most potential candidates don't want to take a job as a lame duck coach, especially if it eliminates them from consideration for a future opening.
It should be interesting to see how this year goes for the Saints. It's not looking too great so far.
