Sam Bradford Wins Heisman Trophy
At Least Some People Can Make The Right Choice: Sam Bradford Is Your Heisman Trophy Winner

Sam Bradford won the Heisman Trophy, for those of you who didn't know. And, as close as this race was this year, I think Bradford was the right choice (take note BCS selection committee). His numbers this year were simply ridiculous. Interestingly, I thought this race would come down to Bradford and Tebow, but it turned out that Colt McCoy finished second. Even weirder, Tebow actually received the most first place votes but lost. I guess it was all or nothing in terms of voting for Tebow. You were either absolutely for him, or were completely against him. I guess that's actually not overly surprising since he did have an incredible season, but it wasn't as good as his one last year. And that's where the split occurred for most voters I would have to think.

By the way, Bradford became the second straight QB to win this award with a cast on his non-throwing hand, so pay attention future Heisman hopefuls.

Anyhow, this just cements my opinion that McCoy will be the best quarterback in the pros of these 3 guys. Why? Because he doesn't have a Heisman. That's the kiss of death for a quarterback.

I'm thinking (and hoping) that Bradford will break all the Hesiman curses.  Oklahoma hopefully will beat Florida and I can't see Bradford failing in the NFL.  He is just too talented.

I would agree that if anyone could break the Heisman curse, it's him. But there's honestly no one talented enough that they cannot fail in the NFL. Plus, Bradford plays in an offense that doesn't exist in the pros, it won't be an easy crossover for him. But it never is for anyone. Except Matt Ryan, of course.

 Congrats Sam and BOOMER SOONER!!!!!!

Of course, sportswriters and sports radio guys are probably typing and chattering away right now about how Bradford didn't deserve to won since he got fewer first place votes.  That's a crock, but you know it's gonna happen...

Bradford can have the Heisman which he deserves but Tebow will be hoisting the crystal football when it's all said and done. GO GATORS!!!!!

It looks like Bradford is going to be 2-0 against Tebow this season.

Winning the Heisman might have its jinx but OKLA  has the best offense in college football, and florida also has one of the best offense's, so we Will see what happens.

First off, i am a huge Gator HATER, but the voters got it WRONG....How do you vote AGAINST Tebow, the holder of the Trophy, when he was a better player than he was last year? Numbers cannot be the factor alone...sorry, Guys..you blew it..Tim Tebow played like a Heisman Winner...good thing he already had one.!

The reason he won it last year was because the sports media drooled over the 1st QB to pass for 20 TDs and rush for over 20 TDs.  This  year the media drooled over 60+ points in 5 straight games, and the Oklahoma Offense scored less than 45 points only 1 time (35 points in loss to Texas).  Ya'll have to remember the majority of these voters are relying on ESPN for their info, so if you want to know next year's Heisman just see who ESPN starts to uberhype up at the begining of January

I agree with you 100%.  He was the only QB who did not cause his team to lose a game.

After trailing 22-6 at halftime, he was able to led his team to a 33-32 lead with a little more than a minute left. It just happened that Herald had different plans, but that is not McCoy's fault. AND NO ONE use the agurement, well they should have taken more time off the clock because Texas NEVER led in that game until the 33-32 mark. Therefore you score the TD when you can.

Lets not forget that McCoy did lead his team to a win over Oklahoma, another game that he led his team back from a halftime deficit.

Lets not forget that McCoy did not have much of a running game in that his starting RB was starting for the 1st time, and had a very young O LIne that only had 1 senior.

Can't say I'd have felt bad if any one of them won it. All are really good college players and deserving.

Hey, a situation in which no one wants a playoff... you win it by having the overall best resume.  Hmm...

An epic year.  I don't think you could get upset if any of the three won it.  But I think they got it right.  Tebow's numbers were quite inferior to the other two [McCoy has basically as much rushing as Tebow combined with far superior passing #s]... but he is the most spectacular to watch (and played in the SEC, for what it's worth).
But Bradford wrapped it up with his jaw-dropping run late in the Ok State game that ended in the backflip.  In all honesty, Oklahoma was in danger of losing that game at that point.  They had to go for it on 4th down on one drive around then, and Oklahoma State was scoring at will.  But Bradford's passion and guts was the game changer Oklahoma needed and made their season.  Combined this the epic numbers, I think that locked it down for him.

It was a close vote, as it should have been.  And any coulda gotten it.  But I think you have to be satisfied the way it went.

Congrats to Bradford, and OU and the B12.

It was an amazing year for offenses in the B12 this year.  With the spread coming into maturity and defenses unable to stop the big play against it, there were impressive numbers put up all across the conference.  Bradford and McCoy stand out from the rest, so to see one of them win the Heisman is great.

I predicted Bradford would win, mostly because of the late season love OU got.  I think though that it's a shame McCoy didn't win it.  I beleive OU would be in better shape without Bradford than UT would be without McCoy.  That being said, I think UF losing Tebow would have the biggest impact of all three.

Sorry I will have to disagree with you. How can you nor vote for Bradford. Yes , Tebow should have won it last year. I will agree with that. Tebow seasons was not as good as his last year and definitely not as good as Bradford and McCoys . The voters got it right this time.

i'm not saying he didn't deserve it, just saying you lost to Texas. when you realize Texas would've put up a better fight against Florida than OU when they lose, i'll be telling you to get over it buddy.

I tend to agree Oklahoma might be in a better state without Bradford than Texas without McCoy.  But #1, that doesn't tell you who the best football player is (which is the Heisman's goal), and #2, if the situations were reversed... could Bradford make similar things happen in Texas?  I think the answer is a powerful yes.
And I agree, UF without Tebow wouldn't be anything of note.

Unfortunately as an OU fan we may find out where they are next year without Bradford... especially if OU wins the Title.  And if we do, that'd be losing our entire offensive line, both starting safties, and a handful of recievers (and what about if Murray also chooses to leave early?).

And mcraig, I don't know how you think the Big 12 title game swayed it... he had dominated similarly in the previous few weeks.  And you know, it happened the way it did, you live with it.  Someone from the south had to be chosen.  If Texas had been chosen rather than Oklahoma, it'd have been the way it was, and I woulda moved on.  But a very good season, and you definitely outplayed us in October.

I guess it all depends on how you define "best football player".

As a NU fan, I look to Eric Crouch's Heisman year.  NU would have been terrible without him, he was a great leader, playmaker, difference maker for the Huskers.

If you look at what exemplifies college football, it would be these things.  Therefore, the best college football player would be (in my opinion) someone who makes a significant difference on the field and off, can make a play when needed, can lead his team, makes things happen from nothing, and would be terribly missed if not playing.  Hence my point.

That's not to say Sam Bradford isn't these things.  But I think as a whole, all other things being equal, McCoy (and for that matter Tebow too), would be missed the most.
